Who we are?

The Institute for Structural Policy, IREAS, is non profit organization, formed as a project based platform of academic and policy experts. IREAS was established in 2001 with the aim of initiating and coordinating the cooperation of experts and institutions in research and its practical application into EU policies, particularly environmental and structural. IREAS is aimed at interdisciplinary work based on the previous research experience of its members from the Economic University in Prague and the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. IREAS is characterized by dynamic and flexible teams of experts from different universities and other academic institutions, policy experts, state administration and private enterprises.

What we do?

Type of non-profit activities undertaken by IREAS:

1. Initiating and coordinating mutual co-operation among organizations active in the field of structural policy aimed at influencing the capacity and processes for accommodating organizations to change the structural characteristics of the environment they are operating within;
2. Providing interdisciplinary co-operation among experts in the fields of education, research and the practice of structurally oriented policies;
3. Promoting sustainable development principles into creating concepts and implementing regional, economic, environmental, agricultural and social policies as the fundamental directions of structural policy;
4. Information services on structural policy issues, namely those related to the European Union;
5. Organization of educational events, conferences, workshops and courses;
6. Publishing activities;
7. Conducting research and developing expert analyses and opinions.

IREAS’s studies and project outputs deal with various society problems primarily from the social, economic and political perspective. IREAS research teams evaluate the efficiency of public finances, analyze the economic consequences and limits of environmental protection (especially in water and waste management, air and nature protection, brownfields etc.) and investigate the potential for public-private participation and the development of the NGO sector in CR. IREAS has a strong background in preparing and organizing educational programs, conferences and seminars for NGOs, the public sector and the general public.
