Honz\u00edk has found a new friend Alex, but he doesn’t understand much because he has recently moved in from Ukraine. How to help Alex and other children to be successful among our children and in learning? We are also now joining in the search for good ways.<\/p>\n

The project focuses on creating conditions in the Czech education system for working with DMT (different mother tongue) pupils. Activities support the interconnection of experts with teachers and the sharing of good practice and the introduction of original methods and methodologies suitable for pupils with DMT in practice in Prague schools and school counselling facilities. At the same time, we provide counselling workplaces with support in working with pupils by implementing development programmes.<\/p>\n

Conclusions of the project:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The leisure programme \u201cHonz\u00edk and His Round-the-World Tour\u201d is a part of the project. It is intended for pupils in groups including foreigner pupils. The programme takes children alongside Honz\u00edk on a tour of different countries, from which foreigners come here the most often. The children learn about the countries\u2019 customs and culture and practise their Czech. The materials can be used even by children not so good at Czech yet. We also care about teachers, to whom a foreign-language child in the group can be an unexpected extra burden. They can use our teacher\u2019s manual on how to approach heterogeneous classes. It contains pupils\u2019 worksheets in different languages to promote psychosocial well-being in the group. It also contains a guide to services pointing to help with different issues concerning foreign-language children.<\/p>\n
