The project supports young people aged 18–29 who are long-term unemployed or economically inactive, helping them regain motivation, self-confidence and work experience needed to enter the labour market or return to education. The project will be implemented in 2026–2028 and will run in two annual cycles. Activities will be carried out in three regions: Prague, the Central Bohemian Region and the Ústí nad Labem Region.
Support for up to 40 young people – 20 participants per year
The project targets young people from the NEET group, i.e. individuals who:
- are not employed,
- are not enrolled in any education programme, and
- are not participating in vocational training or requalification.
In the first year (2026–2027), the project will support 20 young people from Prague and the Central Bohemian Region.
In the second year (2027–2028), support will be provided to 20 young people from the Ústí nad Labem Region.
From each group of twenty participants, 8 individuals will be selected for an eight-week international work placement.
The remaining participants will take part in parallel support activities in the Czech Republic, which represent a full-value alternative to international mobility.
International work placements – Portugal and Ireland
International work placements are the core element of the ALMA methodology and for many participants represent their first real work experience.
- In the first year, placements will take place in Portugal.
- In the second year, participants will travel to Ireland.
Each placement will last 8 weeks, will take place in groups of 8 participants, and will be organised in cooperation with verified international partner organisations. Participants will be supported by a local mentor, a mentor from the Czech Republic, and professional staff throughout their adaptation and the entire work experience.
Parallel support in the Czech Republic
Participants who do not take part in the international placement will receive intensive, individually tailored support in the Czech Republic, including:
- mentoring and coaching focused on motivation, planning next steps and developing work habits,
- psychological support and crisis intervention, where needed,
- cooperation with labour market specialists, CV preparation, interview training and job search support,
- requalification courses based on an Individual Education and Development Plan (IEDP),
- practical work experience in the Czech Republic lasting at least 14 days, adapted to participants’ capacities.
Parallel support is a full-value alternative to international mobility, aiming to strengthen participants’ competencies, stability and employability and to support their transition into employment or further education.
Why is this support important?
Within the ALMA initiative, the managing authority states that:
“International mobility is a key element enabling young people without work experience to acquire new skills, motivation and self-confidence, thereby significantly improving their employability.”
At the same time, the programme emphasises the need to:
“support young people who are not in employment or education through intensive mentoring, psychological support and links to real job opportunities.”
These principles form the foundation of the Experience Without Borders project.
