The project aims to design and pilot effective participatory processes supporting the implementation of the Just Transition Fund (JTF) in the Czech Republic, with a particular focus on the Karlovy Vary, Ústí nad Labem and Moravian-Silesian regions. The project addresses barriers to stakeholder participation and the uptake of JTF funding, assesses existing participatory approaches, tests new participation tools and develops a practical participation strategy. Its activities include stakeholder interviews and consultations, working groups, pilot workshops and subsequent validation activities. Within the project, IREAS focuses primarily on analytical and participatory activities in the Karlovy Vary Region, including the involvement of relevant regional stakeholders, preparation and facilitation of workshops and discussion seminars, and analysis of their results. The findings will be used to identify regional needs, assess the strengths and weaknesses of existing participatory processes and formulate recommendations for the future use of participatory approaches in the context of the just transition. IREAS’s activities also include overseeing the task of formulating a participatory strategy for Czech coal regions. The project is implemented by a consortium led by BeePartner a.s. in cooperation with Ecorys Europe EEIG-GEIE, the Economic and Social Council of the Ústí nad Labem Region and IREAS.
