Economic models of complex costs in waste management

Impact evaluation of waste management legislation? Based on macroeconomic modelling and with an accent on different waste streams and packaging, waste prevention and minimization, it is possible to identify impacts on economic actors (households, municipalities, firms) and on the country in general.

The project was based on the needs of economic policy makers in the environmental area to model impacts of legislative amendments in waste management. Interconnection of many areas within waste management issues gives an opportunity to choose optimal instruments to achieve desired goals.

The aim of the project was to develop instruments for regulatory impact analysis of waste management legislation. The solution itself was carried out in relation to a macroeconomic model focusing on each individual type of waste and packaging waste, waste prevention and reduction. Parts of the solution were based on the comprehensiveness and complexity of waste management (including relevant legislation) in relation to the economic system of the Czech Republic.
